Why Producers Get Angry with Rappers
Listen i know you've heard of the saying Supply and Demand? With that being said, dont Come to a Producer/Beatmaker(same thing) Talking about a FREE BEAT....I Hate Those Words Personally We Producers put in a lot of work perfecting our Craft and making art that you like and that u want people Dancing and Jumping to in the club, car, house, barbershop, or wherever. So When you come to us talking about Can i get a beat with no money that's like a Insult to what we do. I hate When Artists come to you thinking your their homie or something talking about let's do a song together but i dont have a beat or "my personal favorite" Especially for Local Artists "Let me get this Track or these Tracks and When i start Selling My CD's I'll cut you A Percentage From it... Seriously Like i Said YOU ARE LOCAL!!!!!!! No one Know's You Besides the NEGRO's You Kick It With So What A is A Percentage of 5 or 10 bucks a CD On the street...Nothing Compared to What We Producer's Should Charge... Let Me Drop some Knowledge for Unestablished Producer's Like Me Check this Out Producer Royalties: Producers generally charge royalties which range from 2.5% to 3% of suggested list retail price of an album, depending on the producer’s reputation, skills, and track record. For beginning artists, you can usually get a new (unestablished) producer to charge from 1% to 2% of records sold. Hot (established) producers can charge from 2% to 4%, while superstar producers can demand from 5% to even 6%. A producer’s royalty rate may also be increased at specified sales plateaus (an increase of 3% to 5% after 500,000 record sold.) Like artists, producers also get "advances." The amount of the advances varies depending on the Level of the producer. New (unestablished) producers can get anywhere from t $2,000 - $3,500 per master (song/beat). A mid-level producer can charge anywhere from $3,500 - $7,500 per master. And superstar producers can get up to $10,000 - $15,000 per master, and sometimes even higher. For Example: Timbaland + One Beat = $150,000 to $500,000 for one beat ( OUTRAGEOUS THATS A DANG HOUSE, CAR, and PLENTY OF EXTRA SPENDING MONEY) But yet you here Timbaland on almost every CD these days. Now Those Are Some Numbers For You So When We Charging You a low amount for a beat that is... Absolutely Nothing compared to what we should be Charging in the First Place by charging those low prices we are basically leasing beats for these "SO CALLED" Artists wanting them for FREE!! But Anyway Im Just Letting You artsits out there know IF YOU WANT GOOD QUALITY THERE IS ALWAYS A PRICE TAG ON IT! NO FREE BEATS...
